Bichon puppy cuddles on a grey Tuesday! 9 month old 'Finn' had fun in for his groom today. Gorgeous!

Rock Hyrax
We recently saw the arrival of 3 juvenile Rock hyrax (Procavia capensis) from Chester zoo.
Rock hyrax are commonly known by a number of different names; Rock badgers,
Cape hyrax and Dassie.
The Rock hyrax have been introduced to the current group of
African Masked Lovebirds to create a mixed exhibit of two different species
that would both be found in the wild in the same region. The enclosure has been
set up with a large hand created rock feature (first time on trialling this
ourselves!) and branches have been placed around to provide climbing
opportunities and optimal enclosure use. We have used Infra-red lamps in the indoor
areas to create for basking spots and to ensure they can maintain their body
temperature. Although they look like large guinea pigs they are actually closely related to the elephant
and manatee!
Hello!
Hi, I'm Vicky, this is my first post and I'm ever so new to
the whole blogging experience. I’ll try
and make this really interesting and informative and remember this is going to
be all real life stuff! I’ll share the
experiences we have during our normal weeks and I’d be happy to focus on a
special topic if I can, just let me know!
